Can we just say….
Tuesday, November 27th, 2007that Calgary drivers are idiots. Pure and simple. We got our first real snowfall of the season last night/this morning. It seems as soon as there a tiny bit of snow on the ground, traffic grinds to a halt. I left my house this morning at 720 to take Dennis to work. Normally this would take 20-25 mins to get there, leaving plenty of time for me and the boys to hit a Tim’s on the way to drop Clay off at school by 830. Well, not today. We got to Den’s work around….810, which isn’t too too bad. But then it took me 1 1/2 hrs to get home. So needless to say, Clay didn’t go to school today. What’s the point for one hour? So, we get home around 915, grab a few things, then off to my dr appt up in the north. That takes us almost an hour to get to. Then, after an hour at the doc (stupid physical) took us almost 2 hrs to get back south to IKEA to have lunch and pick up our xmas tree. So, by this time it’s 130 and we have to go back up north to the Children’s hospital for Clay’s eye appt. After 2 hrs in the hospital clinic, it took us 2 hours to get back to our home neighborhood, and off to beavers. Drop Clay off, rush to pick dennis up at work by 7, and make it back to get Clay by 730. Finally, 8pm we got home. I’m so cranky and tired, it’s not funny. Of 12 hours out of the house, all but about three were in the car driving. Stupid people in their stupid trucks/suv/hummers that think they can handle the snow, even if they don’t have the proper tires. SLOW THE HELL DOWN!!!!! I betcha out of all the multi car pile ups we had today, 90% of them were probably caused by some hot shot idiot who thinks he can drive in snow as if it weren’t there. If they’d slowed down, i bet we would’ve been able to do at least 50 km on Deerfoot Trail instead of the 20 km. (Deerfoot Trail is a 100km/hr zone, for those not in the know.) I should’ve stayed in bed.
