Becky’s Nook

have been long and exhausting. So many problems keep popping up. First, we tore out the tub and the walls around it, found some mould there on the insulation, so decided to tear out all the walls. Good thing we did too, because there was copious amounts all over different spots of the insulation. After Richard pulled out the insulation, we found holes in the siding from the outside, where the nailer had missed the studs. No wonder it was so cold in that room all the time! So Richard filled those up, put new, water resistant insulation in and aquaboard jiprock. She’s nice and toasty in there now! So Richard puts the new soaker tub in, and it has a chip in it already! Turns out there was an air bubble, and someone pushed on it, and it chipped. Nothing a little porcelain filler can’t fix. But then the doors we bought didn’t fit, and weren’t tall enough, so we had to return them, and bought some (in my opinion) nicer ones. And they’re super tall, like, about a foot over MY head. There’s no way Dennis’ll get sprayed on if i’m in the shower and he’s on the potty. (that used to happen, really! Dangit for being so tall!) But after we put the tub in, the tap decided to leak, while we were sleeping, and flooded my kitchen. So now there’s a huge hole in the kitchen roof, waiting to be fixed, along with one set of wrecked cupboards. But it’s ok, we were gonna do the kitchen anyways.

Anyways, we put the laminate in that we bought from IKEA, and it was crap. kept breaking, and chipping. So Richard tore it all out (we’re taking it back, yessireebob) and bought some better stuff from Totem. It’s really nice. I love the colour! So now all that’s left is to putty, sand, paint and put the trim and vanity in.  I will post pictures just as soon as it’s all done. I know it’ll look great! Then comes the kitchen reno after this is done.

So, the other day, I was at work, and this little boy, Evan, who was about 6, and his mom are looking around at some of the lights we sell. He was trying to decide which was best to spend his money on. He had saved it in his piggy bank. He was walking around, asking me how much each one was, being very cost concious, it was HIS money after all. So, after about 1/2 an hour, he couldn’t decide between

So his mom finally convinced him to take the dark blue star because it was the first one he’d chosen, and maybe they could come back next week, and buy the other one. So he looks at me, all serious like, and hands me the light blue lamp. As he does so, he says to me, “can you put this on hold for me please?” So of course i said “you bet buddy!” Such a little shopper man!

well, it is, but we’ve been doing a bathroom renovation, and problem after problem has come up, the latest being my kitchen roof leaking, and finding out it’s rotted with wetness. Otherwise, it’s just been small things that are easily fixable. I called our realtor today to see if there’s any way we can hold the seller liable, because this leak has been long before we moved in.

In happier news, Clay turned 5!!! We had a backwards birthday party for him (thanks Krista, for the great idea!) and he and all his friends had a blast! I’ll post the pictures once i get into a little better of a mood.

Just wanted to update you guys as to what i was up to, and let you know i haven’t fallen off the face of the earth. I’ll type more later.
