And so begins a new year!
Friday, December 29th, 2006With new year’s day just around the corner, I sit back and reflect on the past year of my life. It was pretty damn good! We sold a house, bought a house, I got a job that I love and the family is happy and healthy. We’re not having to scrape every damn penny together to buy milk, we’ve been able to buy a few things to pretty up the house, and I’ve started seeing a therapist along with a psychiatrist about my hair pulling. 2007 is shaping up to be a good year. And who said being 30 was bad? Definitely not me. It’s the best year so far, aside from getting married and having kids.
Now, as Baha’i’s, we don’t celebrate christmas as a rule. We have our own celebration in the last week of February, before the 19 day fast, called Ayyam-i-ha. We exchange gifts, eat our faces off and prepare ourselves for the fast in March. I, as a diabetic, wont’ be able to participate in the fast. I feel like i’ll be missing out on the experience, and that saddens me. But, I will just have to find something else that will fulfill me spiritually. So, on to the point, we still have our families that celebrate christmas, and we grew up celebrating it, and there’s a ton of traditions I don’t want my kids to miss out on. So we will still have our holidays, and celebrate being with our families and friends and just enjoy being together. My mom and George came out to celebrate the holidays with us this year, since i had to work this week. It was great having them here (and Goose too, my little doggie brother) It’s been about 3 years since they’ve ventured out to Cowtown to see us. We usually go out there instead. The boys absolutely LOVED having Gramma and Grampa George out here, and Robbie didn’t even mind a few Goosekisses now and then either.
We all got totally spoiled, so much so I can’t even list the things we all got. We’d be here forever. And the boys opened all their presents so fast that I don’t even know who gave them what, save for a few things I knew before hand. So to everyone, thank you sooooo much for all your gifts! We really appreciate the generosity and love you’ve shown us over the years! (PS a special thanks to my aunty Alice, who takes hints very well…the photo is beautiful! Only problem is, now it needs a mate, because it’s lonely over here!
)
We, of course, took a bunch of photos! Have fun sharing our enjoyment! Till next time, toodles and Happy new year!
