How was everyone’s christmas? Ours was great! We went out to Granny’s (Den’s granny) and visited there for 5 days. The boys got totally spoiled with a whole bunch of toys and clothes. But that’s the usual, especially with Den’s family, since they’re the only great grandkids for Granny so far. Dennis totally spoiled me. He brought out this HUGE box. And it was heavy, and rattled, and i had no idea what was in it. So I, with the help of Robbie, opened it up. Plain white box. That doesn’t help me out. So i opened up the 8 miles of tape Den used to seal the box. On top was two of my couch cushions…..um, ok. I have a naked couch at home. Our bbq utensil set was in there. Hmmmm, that would be the rattle…..A couple phone books, a case of cd’s. OK, so where’s the present? In a little La Senza Bag. The bastard had me totally fooled! In the bag, there were a handful of gift cards. La Senza, 100 bucks. YAY I can buy more than 1 bra! Reitman’s….200 bucks. YAY! I can buy a lot of clothes for 200 bucks! Specially since it’s their end of season sale and it’s up to 70% off! And at the very bottom was the best gift ever! A day at the Life Spa, here in Calgary!!!!! I get to go for a whole day of complete pampering! I’m sooooo excited!
Den made out pretty good too, he got his Rock Band game in November. But he also got Lego Star Wars, the Complete Saga (with the guide) and tickets to one of his favorite bands of all time Blue Rodeo! (thanks Mom and Geo!)
Anyways, hope everyone has a happy new year! Talk to you soon!
My eye surgery went well. The double vision is GONE!! YAY! All i need to do is wear reading glasses at the computer and for reading. I can handle that. So today, i went looking for some glasses. Every pair i tried on “oh my gosh, i look like grandma!” and it’s true. I look like a young granny. I wish i had a scanner so i could scan some pictures from when she was my age. We could pass for twins i bet! Anyways, here’s the new me. LOOK AT THAT THICK HEAD OF HAIR!!!!
I go in for my cataract surgery tomorrow. It’s only on the right eye, and should only take an hour. But i’m off work for 4 weeks. And then on moderated duty for another 2 weeks after that. I’m nervous as to what to expect, i mean, it’s my eyeball after all. Also, i’m a worrier, so i run all sorts of scenarios in my head, usually the worst possible ones. Anyways, i’ll post later in the week, once i’ve healed up a bit. Just wanted to let you know i haven’t fallen off the face of the earth…..yet.
So, for the Beavers/Scouts christmas party, we went to Lloyd’s Recreation and went rollerskating! I was worried that the boys would get all frustrated right off the start, and not want to do it, but they had a blast! They fell, got up, fell, got up, fell, got up and by the end of the night, were covered in bruises, but had the best time ever and had gotten remarkably better at skating! Robbie really took to it, Clay I think over thought things too much, but he loved it too! Even Mom and Dad got on skates! Here’s some pics!

even santa came to skate!

that Calgary drivers are idiots. Pure and simple. We got our first real snowfall of the season last night/this morning. It seems as soon as there a tiny bit of snow on the ground, traffic grinds to a halt. I left my house this morning at 720 to take Dennis to work. Normally this would take 20-25 mins to get there, leaving plenty of time for me and the boys to hit a Tim’s on the way to drop Clay off at school by 830. Well, not today. We got to Den’s work around….810, which isn’t too too bad. But then it took me 1 1/2 hrs to get home. So needless to say, Clay didn’t go to school today. What’s the point for one hour? So, we get home around 915, grab a few things, then off to my dr appt up in the north. That takes us almost an hour to get to. Then, after an hour at the doc (stupid physical) took us almost 2 hrs to get back south to IKEA to have lunch and pick up our xmas tree. So, by this time it’s 130 and we have to go back up north to the Children’s hospital for Clay’s eye appt. After 2 hrs in the hospital clinic, it took us 2 hours to get back to our home neighborhood, and off to beavers. Drop Clay off, rush to pick dennis up at work by 7, and make it back to get Clay by 730. Finally, 8pm we got home. I’m so cranky and tired, it’s not funny. Of 12 hours out of the house, all but about three were in the car driving. Stupid people in their stupid trucks/suv/hummers that think they can handle the snow, even if they don’t have the proper tires. SLOW THE HELL DOWN!!!!! I betcha out of all the multi car pile ups we had today, 90% of them were probably caused by some hot shot idiot who thinks he can drive in snow as if it weren’t there. If they’d slowed down, i bet we would’ve been able to do at least 50 km on Deerfoot Trail instead of the 20 km. (Deerfoot Trail is a 100km/hr zone, for those not in the know.) I should’ve stayed in bed.
lost ANOTHER TOOTH!!!!! That makes him look like a hockey player!

and robbie wanted to get in on the picture action
LOST HIS TOOTH!!!!! YAYAYAYAYAYAYAAAAAAY!
two loose teeth! He bit into an apple yesterday and said “ouch!” So I thought he maybe had some apple skin between his teeth. But no, so i wiggled his two bottom front teeth and yes! they’re loose! He’s excited, but nervous too. He doesn’t want to swallow them when they fall out. I told him i’ve lost all my baby teeth, and I never ever swallowed one. That seemed to calm him a little. SO EXCITING!
Also, I enrolled Clay into Beavers (a part of Scouts Canada) HE LOVES IT! everyday last week “do i get to go to beavers today?” “today?” I think it’ll be great, he’ll learn so many life skills, and make so many friends.
Happy turkey day! We didn’t have a turkey dinner this year, I worked all weekend. Booooo! But, in good news, i got time and a half, so it was worth it. I guess. Not much has been happening in the Horvath world lately. Clay goes to school. Robbie is potty training. Dennis and I are working. Haven’t had much time to write lately. Just wanted to let you all know we’re still alive. Hope the turkey was good!
